Water works at Littlepace, Clonee

Water Conservation

Uisce Éireann is progressing plans to increase water conservation measures and improve water pressure in Dublin 15.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Fingal County Council, is progressing plans to carry out water works at Deerhaven Park, Littlepace, Dublin 15. These essential infrastructural works are part of a national upgrade programme and will involve the construction of a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Chamber and Meter Chamber off the existing pipeline which runs through Deerhaven Park. The installation of these chambers will allow significant water conservation and savings to be made in the Dublin 15 area as well as improved water pressure for the residents. Carty Contractors Limited are working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this project.

Pressure Reducing Valves are speciality valves designed to protect water installations against excessive pressure from the water supply. They do not only regulate the pressure within installations but also reduce noise and water consumption and maintain constant flow level.

What are the benefits of this project?

The works carried out as part of this project will:

  • Significantly increase water savings in Dublin 15.
  • Improve water pressure for the residents of Littlepace, Clonee.
  • Increase water conservation and energy saving in the area.
  • Reduce operational costs due to reduced energy consumption.

What is involved as part of this project?

The proposed works include the installation of key water infrastructure in the green area of Deerhaven Park. These essential infrastructural works are part of a national upgrade programme and will involve the construction of a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Chamber and Meter Chamber off the existing pipeline which runs through Deerhaven Park, as well as the installation of air valves, hydrants and connections off the existing water main.

Works are also proposed to install electrical ducting from an existing ESB mini pillar, outside No. 3 The Way to the existing Kiosk in the green. These works will require the ducting to be installed under the existing footpath from No. 3 The Way to the end boundary of No.1 The Way and through the park to the existing Kiosk.

The works are proposed to take place on the green area of Deerhaven Park and will last for approximately 8 weeks.

The park area will be fully reinstated following the works. All chambers will be made flush with the existing ground and no items will protrude over the ground.

What are the next steps?

It is planned that the works will now start on 1 March 2021. Uisce Éireann expects these works to last for approximately 8 weeks.
