Shrone and Barraduff Water Supply Schemes
Water Supply Project
Uisce Éireann has completed works to provide a safe and reliable drinking water source to Shrone and Barraduff Water Supply Schemes
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Kerry County Council, has invested €2.5 million to improve the security of water supply to the Shrone and Barraduff areas. This investment will benefit over 1,500 customers to ensure the delivery of a clean, safe drinking water source, and remove these areas from the EPA's Remedial Action List (RAL).
Shrone and Barraduff were previously supplied through their own water treatment plants. The water treatment processes at these plants were inadequate due to the formation of elevated concentrations of Trihalomethanes (THMs). This project involved the construction of 14 kilometres of water mains, connecting these areas to the Kerry Central Water Supply Scheme.
