Mayglass Raw Water Project
Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Wexford County Council is improving the water network at Mayglass to provide a more reliable water supply.
The works involve the installation of over 3.5km of new 250mm diameter watermains to alleviate current supply challenges in the area. The new watermains will take raw water from two boreholes; located near St Fintan's Church and at Mulrankin, to the existing Mayglass Water Treatment Plant for treatment. This project is being delivered to increase the water supply capacity, reduce the risk of interruption to water supply and facilitate growth and development of the area. The works are being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development programme and will be carried out our behalf by Coffey Construction (I) Ltd. Works will commence in mid-March and are expected to be completed in Q4 2024.
What are the benefits of the works?
The benefits of these water network works include:
- Improving the water network - This project will increase our capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high quality water services in the area.
- Providing a more resilient water supply - This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.
Will customers be affected by the works?
To safely facilitate works, road closures will be in place along the works route from Mayglass Water Treatment Plant to Mulrankin. To minimise disruption, all road closures will be carried out in rolling stages.
The first road closure will be in place from Tuesday 19 March at L3045-1/2/3 and L3046-4 at Tanner Hill, from its junction with the R739-4 at Walshestown to its junction with L-7094-3 at Cregg. Alternative routes will be clearly signposted. Local and emergency access will be facilitated.
We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause. Standard working hours are 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.
