Water supply returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Cooley

Uisce Éireann crews have repaired two bursts in Dawstown and Mullatee over the weekend affecting customers on the Cooley Peninsula, and are currently working to resolve issues in the Jenkinstown pump house and Ardtullybeg water treatment plant.
An issue at the Ardtullybeg water treatment plant has affected reservoir levels and supplies to customers in the Cooley area. This supply interruption was compounded by a further issue in the Jenkinstown pump house plus two separate mains bursts in Dawstown and Mullatee that occurred on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
However, repairs were completed over the weekend and the system is now recharging.
Uisce Éireann’s James O Hagan thanked those affected for their patience while crews carried out the works. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support, It may take a number of hours for the entire network to recharge especially for customers on higher ground and at the end of the network.”

We are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses to areas in the Ballymascanlan, Rath, Jenkinstown, Greenore, Omeath and Carlingford areas of the Cooley Peninsula.
The disruption to supply is down to a combination of unusually high customer demand and leakage. Periodic outages and a drop in pressure are expected to continue over the weekend.
Crews are on the ground and have isolated a significant leak, the treatment plant is running at maximum production to replenish the reservoirs, and the operations team have diverted water from the adjacent Cavanhill scheme to help minimise disruption and return supplies as quickly as normal.
Uisce Éireann's Operations Lead, James O Hagan regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible."
A water tanker will be placed at Grange Church Car Park from 6pm this evening as a means of providing an alternative water supply. Consumers should bring their own containers and boil water from the tanker as a precautionary measure.
