Water supply restored to majority of customers across Co. Clare

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply has been restored to the majority of Uisce Éireann customers in County Clare. Approximately 700 premises, equalling to 1500 customers remain without supply as of this afternoon, Thursday 30 January.

Due to a loss of power at pumping stations along the network, customers on the Ballymacravan Public Water Supply, including Ennistymon, Lisdoonvarna, Ballyvaughan, Doolin, Fanore, Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher, and surrounding areas may still be experiencing a loss of supply. Customers on the Old Doolough Public Water Supply, may also be experiencing supply disruptions, including Rockmount.

Please be assured Uisce Éireann crews are continuing to work tirelessly to ensure the affected sites have power returned to them as quickly as possible, there are approximately 14 generators installed at all of the plants, pumping stations and reservoirs where it is required in an effort to ensure water supply is provided.

We are continuing to work closely with the ESB to prioritise the restoration of electricity supply in the remaining locations where generators are still providing a power source. Customers may experience low pressure or disruptions as the networks begin to recharge, especially those on higher ground or at the end of a network.

Alternative water supplies are available in the below listed locations will remain until supply has been restored:

  • Killaloe GAA Pitch
  • Public Water Tap located at Ennistymon Square
  • Clouna Church, Ennistymon
  • Woodcock Pub, Cratloe
  • O’Maras Shop, Flagmount
  • McGann’s Pub, Doolin
  • O’Donoghue’s Pub, Fanore
  • Church car park, Ballyvaughan
  • St Breckans GAA Car Park, Lisdoonvarna
  • Promenade car park, Lahinch
  • Miltown Malbay GAA Pitch
  • Rockshop, Liscannor

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, which we understand is a challenge at this time.

We understand the impact that prolonged loss of water supply has on our customers and have put alternative water supplies in place across the county to alleviate this difficulty.

We will be updating our website and providing information to local stakeholders about their locations. We are also providing additional supports for elderly and vulnerable customers, and we would encourage people to contact our customer care team at 1800 278 278 if additional support is needed.”
