Our customers in Stillorgan are benefitting from improved water quality and a more secure and reliable supply after the recent completion of works to replace 700m of aging water mains.
The existing old cast iron water mains that were prone to frequent bursts and leakage were replaced with new modern pipes which will provide an improved water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.
These old water mains in Stillorgan were replaced and upgraded as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme.
Commenting on the benefits of the project, Nicola Butler, Uisce Éireann, said, “As a result of these works, the community are now enjoying improved water quality and a more secure and reliable water supply. I would like to thank the local community for their support and patience during the delivery of this essential project."
Nicola continued, “The works form part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the city’s water supply and quality, in addition to the operational performance of the network. The improvements to the water network are critical to providing a more secure and reliable water supply, now and for generations to come.”
The section of works took place in Stillorgan village on the Old Dublin Road and Lower Kilmacud Road. The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.
