Longford community urged to report leaks as thawing weather may cause bursts on the network

As the effects of the freezing weather and subsequent thaw continue to be felt in the coming days, there may be additional disruptions to supplies across the county. When frozen pipes start to thaw, it can lead to an increase in bursts and leaks.
Uisce Éireann's Water Operations Lead for Longford, David Gibbons, reminds people to continue being mindful of their water usage and reporting any leaks on the public network. He said, "As a thaw replaces the freezing conditions we have experienced, we expect to see an increase in leaks and bursts on the network. Water services crews remain on standby, ready to maintain and restore water supplies for customers in Longford."
He added, "We would ask people to remain vigilant over the coming days and report any leaks in the public network so that our crews can carry out repairs. The public can report leaks or bursts to our Customer Care Team on 1800 278 278."
